I received an email a few months ago from SK Gaming's Duncan 'Thorin' Shields. He had just published an interview with DarK from Golden Era super clan Memento Mori.
Many questions concerned DarK's Quake2 days, and I definitely think you should take a closer look.

Hi,
to oppose some recent bad rumors about death of q2 here are some good and exiting news from Mother Russia :)
On 30th April 2012 in St. Petersburg (Russia) best of the best of Russian q2 player will come to annual 6th Russian Quake 2 LAN 2012.
We can expect lots of nice action because there will be an Duel Tourney, a show FFA/TDM games and more.
And all this you will be able to see on GTV and Live Stream with commentary from [rage]kaby (in Russian I suppose ;) ).
Some of the well know names are expected to be at that LAN:
Aid, K1ru, Slonik, Vaselisa, Kaby, ilmg, opt1mus, ce1er, basik, demien, st1gmata, rpg, Hide, detina, MuH3gPaB, bl.lolka, MSN, UMUSTDIE, necr, ambulance and more

In 2 days - on wednesday 14th of march  DoDDy and PLQ2 Crew want to present you a one day multi-mod tournament called "TURNIEJOS ONE DEJOS".
It will be based on 3 not regulary played mods, but really fun to play sometime. It's gonna be a CTC, RA2 and KICK event.
If you're not familiar with the shortnames CTC is the Catch The Chicken mod in which the goal is to simply catch the chicken and hold it as long as you can!
RA2 is the famous Rocket Arena 2 - the mod which have been played massively on early days of Quake 2 and this is like back to the roots. It can be compared to Rocket Arena 3 in Quake 3 and Clan Arena in Quakelive.
KICK is basically a football game put into the Quake 2 engine. You wanna feel like a Messi among Grunts? You should try it.
The planned start is about 19:00 CET but you should tell a word to the admins a bit earlier about your participation. They also ask you to download the mods before the tournament start and check if everything is ok after joining the servers. (download links and ip's below)

At the beginning of each year, there is one thing that will be happening for sure. I am talking here about the Jump Tournament. The whole jumpmod scene comes to life during this period. Players are practicing everyday in order to perform well during the tourney. This year was no different.
The tournament has started in February and after all the battles, there were 10 players who advanced to the Grand Final. We are now proud to announce the winners for this year:

Hi, we would like to present you the first event from Q2TW TOUR - Quake 2 TDM 4on4 THAT WAY DRAFT TOURNAMENT.
It will be played on a brand new map made by Shao (the same guy who created q2ht - HammerTime) with a Draft mode. We highly encourage you to try the new map with us for the first time officially!
What is more i believe the maker of this piece will appreciate any kind of opinions and hints about the geommetry of the map, gameflow and balance.

Hey!
I got 2 very good news for you today which are mostly connected with the upcoming Quake 2 That Way 4on4 TDM Tournament. The first one is that the openTDM – digitalfrag.pl #1 & #2 are back (Ip below)! Big thanks to island55 for putting them up just in time before the Q2 TW Tournament. This favor allow us to have fun in really good conditions – I hope many people will be as happy as I am.
