I would like to discuss here about some ideas there might be about next euroq2l season. Goal is to make this league more interesting.
Ideas
WHAT?
IDEA #1 -Introduce a new map (or/and remove an old map)-
Why? New maps are welcome in Euroq2l, looking at current statistics ( http://q2scene.net/euroq2l/index.php?op=lstats ) shows that dm8 and dm7 are rarely played. Furtherly - q2next1 - which was introduced a few seasons ago has become the most played map (after oldschool dm1). My idea would be to re-introduce q2next2 to Euroq2l and remove dm8.
Many options are possible:
-add map or add 2 maps
-add map and remove least played maps
-add 2 maps - remove 2 maps
The last option could be : add q2next2 and q2dm4; remove dm7+dm8.
Euroq2l is played 4x4 and should rely more on teamplay, than individual skills (like dm1). A map should mean basic conditions like being big enough for 4x4 and have quad damage. Dm4 for example is big enough, has Quad, MH and all weapons.
I am sure some people will like it and other will dislike(as some people always dislike every change - aka the inflexible type)
So below i have made a poll. If you want to contribute to this (in my opinion) fantastic Euroq2l league, the please Vote and/or leave your comment. Maybe if we can get at least 50 people to make their vote, Euroq2l admin crew can seriously consider a change.
----UPDATE : SUMMARY ON IDEAS MENTIONED SO FAR------
1.-maps adding to league (and/or removing)
2.-clanbase like map pool OR PLQ2 random bots generating maps for each game.
3.-Bi-divisional playoff system - (Sovet)

duco first of all. You talk about Euroq2l is about teamplay etc etc, then why do you want to remove dm8, since its the one with most teamplay needed.
Introducing Next2 for next season i give a big VOTE YES for since its a great teamplay map. But imo either dont remove anything or remove dm7, wich is the least popular map?
Adding dm4 wont work, you cant make people play dm4, its impossible, it has always been there but it has never been played and that is probably because of a reason.
+next2 is the only change you need to do. And hopefully they keep division 1 in one big group, as everyone can see its alot more interesting. |

I voted for option 6. but I don't know which map should be added but if there is such good map as q2next1 turned to be, it should be added...
I remember of one oldschool map we used to play.... It had two big rooms, I think one was quad room and the other was invul room... there was mega and red armor as well and rooms were connected with many passages... anyone knows what map is it?
If any map should be removed, it should be dm7... that is the only map where blaster skill is needed and can be important It's a skill map where TP is not primal thing...
dm8 shouldn't be removed imo.... It is only map with power shield and it's maybe most demanding map for TP what is maybe the reason why it's the least played... only few clans has good tactics there, others just play it in ffa style with no bind for dropping PS and even not sure how powerups are spawned
dm4? lol no... I'm always lost in that hallways after all these years I still don't know where to go if I'm on BFG spot although that BFG is 2ez to get to.... It has all items, but it's just bad map... |

and for next2 I really can't tell cause I played it only a couple of times on deathmatch server... never 4vs4... tho it seems more like FFA than TP map...
textures are to bright and I really like my white crosshair  |

| Luxor we had next in eq2l #7 and it worked perfectly, there is an exact way how to play next2, the possistion and with tactics, we were unbeaten on next2 with CD vs all clans we played the map against. But it got voted away since i guess they thought there is something wrong with the map when half nub teams won vs good teams. Thats the mentality we had back then "omg wizards or KTA lost vs CD on next2, something is wrong with the map lets remove it" when it was only about tactics. Thats why i can say its a great tactical maps and we could ask someone to make textures for the map. |

| Imho, do not remove anything. Add one map. Not necessary next2. I think clans should be able to play on as many different teamplay maps as possible as it gives u more options and therefore makes divisions more interesting. |

Cheimera, i only partly agree on your dm8 thoughts. You are very right, dm8 is a map with much teamplay needed, but statistics show us it's played least of all maps. dm8 has no quad and a powershield. After one team gets 2 powershields, game is usually over. This in contrary to a map with 'quad damage'. Every minute there will be a fight, which clan will grab quad.
According to statistics dm8 is less popular compared to dm7. So please also judge according to current statistics. In fact dm7 (and next1) are very good maps to pick against clans that have very good railers. All other maps have railgun, if you remove dm7 there will be only 1 map without RG. Also dm7 and dm1 are the only 2 maps without powerups (no penta/quad/PS).
I think dm4 is never been played in 4x4 because there has never been a league having it. If you introduce it, people will soon start playing it. Furthermore it is one of the few (only) maps that has ALL weapons, quad damage and 100 armor. It requires advanced tactics because of it's size. Just re-think about this map. Also everyone that has ever played FFA already knows this map.

| duco you are right, dm8 is a shit map, because of the PS lock down you can make. And yeh dm7 works betetr to keep statisticly. And about dm4, its just something about dm4, i am almost certain dm4 will never work out and people will never start to play, then its better to just add a map as next2 which have been in the leagues before. |

-add one map is indeed a good thing for innovation.
-adding two maps and removing some maps (that are statistically proven not much being played) is true innovation which requires all clans to start practicing, re-inventing tactics and adapting themselves.
But one step will be alot already since no mapchanges have been done in last 6 seasons. |

| best solution would be to make it like it is in plq2, special bot is randomly picking maps for every match, that would eliminate 1map-only clans and scandi vs pol matches wont looks like now, dm1 vs dm2 all the time |

ye, the random style reminds me ClanBase, but why not ...
i voted for removing dm8 (but only bcs i dont like that map )
But generally i think removing maps wont help, actually only thing which can help is add next2 map to map list. Because i am pretty sure there is no clan which know this map really well so far. So it will depend only on clans and their interest to learn this map and rule... And i think there is only few clans which will show this interest. |
