This is the final chapter in the 6th season of EDL.
One hundred and fourteen players (114) started this season with high hopes and anticipation. One by one they were eliminated from the tournament by more skilled peers in the eliminations.
32 players made it to the group stage, where player elimination continued, only half of them were going to reach the playoffs stage and the top 16 in the Europe. The long group stage with some expected, and some really surprising results finally revealed the 16 best duel players in the Europe.
The most thrilling part of the league, the playoffs, were full of excitement and amazing games. In every game there had to be a winner and a looser who had to say goodbye the the hopes for winning this tournament. In the end, there was just one player left whos hand had reached highest and grapped the title of the best European Q2 duel player in the year 2008.
The final results:
Winner and the champion: Damiah 
Silver medallist: Syanid
Bronze medallist: Gerdt 
Fourth place: Purri 
Places 5 to 8: Assasin  , Pogo , Optimus  , Jakkari
Places 9 to 16: Aone  , Blaizz  , DM  , Thaigo , Provi , Turricane , Ibogine , Jol

Unfortunately Damiah is not able to finish the league due to his personal issues, hence the result of is match against Gerdt match (more details in the match report). We are sorry that his activity in the league ended up like this and we wish Gerdt luck in his upcoming match.
EDIT:
Seems like Damiah got fired from his new job even before he started to work and so Gerdt cannot expect easy way to the finals anymore ;). Sorry for this bad april fools' day joke! |

While on irc, AlexyeNov said yesterday it would be nice to read some predictions of EDL's playoffs games. He actually wanted to write his own, but couldn't find a decent translator, who would translate his work into english. I'm not sure if he found someone and if the translator is working on it now. Say hello to quarter finals of European Duel League #6! First round of playoffs was delayed more than we expected, but we are glad that the controversial match ( optimus - turricane) was finally played. Almost all matches from 1/4 finals have been played already, so let me write a little summary.
Matches in 1/4
Damiah - Assasin ()
This match was quite shameful from Assasin's side, since he couldn't bear Damiah's pressure for more than 2 maps, and after 2nd map he disconnected without any wish to finish the match. Both played maps were quite one sided (27:0 - q2rdm2; 47:1 - q2duel1), but since Assasin didn't want to finish the match, overall result is wo. Is Damiah going to scare his another opponent Gerdt? Let's hope not.
Gerdt - Pogo ()
I believe that Gerdt's clear victory over Pogo was a surprise for most players since he's usually considered more as a TDM player than a dueller. I didn't see the match, but from the screenshots I assume that Gerdt showed some nice performance on all maps, hence the result is 3:0. Will Gerdt show another surprising performance and give his next opponent some hard time?
purri - optiMus (not played yet)
I've heard a lot of .ru fans saying that optiMus has a chance to win one or two maps if he gets his nerves under control and won't make many mistakes. We all know that any mistake can be turned into opponent's favor and change the overall result of the match, but will optiMus be able to keep his play on top, without any mistakes against purri? In official matches, just hearing the name of strong opponent makes one nervous, but in a playoffs' match where you can either win or lose everything, and your opponent's name is purri, it takes hell of a player to get his play under control.
syanid - jakkari ()
syanid's victory was expected by most players, but jakkari's inability to win at least one of his home-maps was quite surprising. syanid showed some confident play, but is his performance going to be enough to beat his next opponent which will be either purri or optiMus?
To our surprise all played matches (3 out of 4) ended with one sided 3:0 result. Maybe purri vs optiMus match will be different, so let's wait for it!
